Guest Report post Posted May 18, 2010 Beautiful! Is that an Alec Jackson hook?
GR8LAKES FLYER 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 GWP , this is a "blind eye" hook , meaning that you needd to fashion your own loop eye ..... as in the days of old . The loop in the top photo is silk gut and the loop in the bottom photo is braided dacron . Silk gut was used in the 18th and 19th centuries to make the eye loops . While some think that the gut would be fragile , it's quite the opposite . It is long lasting and offers addition freedom of movement to the fly . It is not uncommon to see the Spey's and Dee's in my box with slightly longer gut loops Thank-you for your kind words Mike , it means a great deal !!
