The puff is a nice idea, but what I really like is the combination of a black body and irridescent sheen - the trout must follow this fly to the bankside and out of the water, it just looks sooo hot!

very nice indeed! i can just imagine that fly in my box now...... (and on my line).... (and in the fish's mouth)!!

 

one row of iridescent blue

one row of iridescent red

one row of " green

one row of " yellow

one row of " orange

one row of " fuchsia

and even one row of iridescent black!!!

 

 

yeah... time to hit the vise again!

That midge look awesome! Thanks for sharing and inspiring me, as midge patterns are what I usually ignore...and just tie when I have to!

This is a very effective-looking fly! I'm tying some up tonight (if my kids sleep well enough.) But I am confused: you say this imitates anchovies???

Sorry - I will carefully clicking. :) Your confusion is understandable because it not is anchovy - this is midge emerger .
