How long have you been tying? Drop a line when you are done.

I myself have been tying since March 14, 2004 (my b-day). You do the math ;)

Just completed my 55th year... started on my ninth birthday....

I started tying about 16 years ago when my wife got me a fly tying kit. I was recovering from a bad car accident and she got me the kit to help pass the time. I've been tying ever since.

Off and on since '63. My first flies were little caddis larva outa white chenille w/ black head and lil hackle. I remember taking some Orvis helgramites apart to figure out how they were "woven". I was an Air Force brat in Germany fishing 2 streams the Rod & Gun Club had leased and made a couple of trips to streams in Garmish and Bertchsegaden with Pops. Lately mostly bass bugs down here in Dixie but have gotten hooked on the Arkieland tailwaters for trips last few years. Here's a pic of an 18" rainbow from back then. The native browns I caught were lots smaller. Notice the Medalist reel... Lost all my old stuff once in a break in...

Later DL

A little over thirty years for me. And it's been fun so far. We'll see how I like it when I've done it a little while longer.

Nice looking desk! And I used to have a Medalist just like that on my Daiwa glass rod!

I started tying about 4-5 years ago.. quite spontaneously really, just felt for a new way to be creative and remembered an old fishing magazine with a test of newbie-kits for flytying. Now I can't stop it! :jumpy:

I started out summer of 2008.So 2 years now.I think i ended up starting for two reasons.

1.i needed a hobby

2.it was fishing

I have always loved fishing weather it was fishing from the dock for bluegills and sunfish or going out in our johnboat and fishing for catfish and bass.I think i started fishing when i was 5 and i havent slowed down and dont ever plan to.Fishing to me is not a sport its not a hobby to me fishing is a passion.I can remember riding me bike down to the bait shop down the road and buying a dosen of worn at 4:30am and fishing nonstop on the shore till 10:30 at night. Then geting up the next morning to do it all agian. Now that look back i wound how i did that all those years past. One thing i do know is that i wouldnt trade one second of that for anything.
