Traditional Catskill Dry Flies

Recommended Posts

So this makes sense to others. Bob hosted a swap. My post office in Rock Hill SC IQ 100 (includes all employees cumulatively.) On a side note with a straight face they told me someone ran over my package, it had tire marks, but they were sure it wasn't them who ran it over. OK back to Bob. I could not put my postage on the envelope that Bob was mailing back from California because I did not know for sure Bob wasn't mailing it back from Mexico. I am very light skinned non Hispanic looking for those who asked. I did tell her in decent Spanish, "su cabeza es una gran montaña de mierda". The post office only makes sense if you drink or are crazy.

On the serious side. I am waiting for utyer , Mike Boyer and troutnabout to send flies. I have heard from the former two and expect flies any day or my neighbor does; troutnabout has not answered any emails or calls.

Hmmm, what can we ascertain from the current status/date? Catskill dry's can cover far greater distances in a short space of time traveling across the ocean than traveling shorter distances by land. Well there ya go who would have thought, maybe the stragglers forgot to add wings to their flies :P ;)

OK I heard from Troutnabout and his are in the mail too.

To answer Fly_fischa..... yes your flies got here fast and the other shorter distances did not. However none of the other flies smelled of Fosters and suntan oil and yes I should have been clearer about the flies with you. I didn't know that you use a 12/0 Queen of the Waters for shark on the Barrier Reef when I told you to tie a 14 or 12. I guess they will work in the Beaverkill.

Ouch, I was only trying to be helpful and creative. Thought I'd offer something different in the way of a scented/flavored fly. Which you got wrong by the way, it wasn't Fosters it was bundaberg rum and vegemite! Quite frankly I'm surprised you're not impressed that I managed to source size 12/0 dry fly hackle, it's hard to please some people!

;)

Vegemite ah fine Aussie food. Down south here Fly fischa we have pork brains in milk in a can the size of tuna. Being a Yankee from NY and a transplant I can only imagine it's taste. Probably like vegemite.

Mike Boyer your package has arrived. Still waiting on Troutnabout and utyer.

OK enough is a enough. Not sure why, but Troutnabout is not responding. Never got flies. I waited two weeks.

I will be sorting tomorrow and mailing Monday.

If anyone knows Troutnabout let me know if he is OK. Last he emailed, the flies were almost done and he would mail soon.

Sorry for the delay.

The flies are sorted and ready to mail. Tomorrow they get posted.

Thank you all for a great swap. I never did get one set of flies so the sets are short.

Hope to swap with you again. THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO SENT EXTRAS FOR ME!!

Lucky me, I got mine first (or at least I responded first.) This is one of (if not the best) set I flies I have gotten in a swap. Such nice flies from everyone, and worthy of saving each and every one. I will have great examples to make copies from for fishing, but these will stay in my permanent collection.

Troutguy, thanks for hosting, and wonderful tying everybody.
