Even with two layers of flat lead, scud and shrimp patterns can be kept nice and slim:

Thanks for the comments. Yes - raffia / swiss-straw for the the bottom flies.

The shell back for the middle flies is just an olive shell bak stretch. Nothing exotic.

Awesome, my local craft store was closing out swiss straw and I got like 14 colors for a couple bucks. They are 1ftx12ft .. Enough to last a lifetime and some!
