help with 2 mayfly larva

Recommended Posts

nor do i care to know a dead language. <img src="http://www.flytyingforum.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

Dead language? LOL that's why it's still used universally throughout the world, and many "live" languages are heavily based on it... ?

It's a dead language because no one actually speak-speaks it. Like we speak english, or how most the germans speak german, there is no, "Oh yea, he doesn't speak english, he speaks latin." (That I know of)

Nobody speaks it? Fly fishin geeks like me use latin to identify the bugs we fashion our flies after. And then i could also reply with: docendo discitur

Referring to thing by the Latin names that were given to them by the scientific community does not mean you speak Latin. Do you also say you speak Chinese because you can order Chinese food?

Speak: to utter words or articulate sounds with the ordinary voice : talk,

So as a matter of fact yes When I am ordering Chinese and I say won ton I am speaking Chinese. Am I speaking English, Spanish or Swahili? NO I am speaking Chinese. Basically its semantics and your being a bit to agro and WAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY off topic,so suffice it to say that I personally use Latin more than most simply because I am a fly fisherman and find it important to do so. Come out to Eastern Idaho and talk hatches on the Henry's for without using latin. Good luck, the Latin names of the mayflies and caddis here are spiced throughout the fishing conversation. Why you may ask? Because its the easiest and most definitive way of describing the hatches and bugs we fashion our flies after. BTW Latin is used in our language all the time! Have you ever said "Carpe Diem" or told a fellow Marine "Semper Fidelis" ? I could go on and on but suffice it to say this is really a moot point. The real question is: what mayfly are those two nymphs going to turn into and will dude have the correct fly in his box when they hatch?

I wasn't ranting, I am certainly not a hypocrite, never been called a brainiac, or a moron, well at least not to my face. Its pretty safe to sit in your safe little chair hidden behind your desk spewin crap on a forum you just joined 6 months ago. Why don't you just shut your pie hole and learn something about fly tying and stop trying to be such an aggressive A hole. You've completely hijacked a thread and turned it into a pile of crap. I didn;t join this forum or comment on this post to start some assenine argument with you about the what for's and why's of latin or what we call bugs. If you got an issue you need to taken care of inbox me and we can get as up close and personal as you want. And BTW for someone who's so anti latin why does your status say, and I quote "Trico's!" Its a frickin latin word Captain Inbred! Sooooo drop the banjo, step away from your sister and get a clue!

Once again read the thread. I did No hijacking, and your the one being aggressive arguing a false point and taking the topic off into your delusional world. I say tricos which is the Tricorythodes common name, Not its Latin name. Thus i don't speak Latin. Perhaps you should be the one getting a clue. Threatening me is not going solve your confusion problem that your unaware of. Keep digging that hole. ;)

What determines whether a language is dead or not is if anyone speaks the language as their native language. No one speaks latin as their NATIVE language. You can know all the words you want in latin, but that doesn't change the fact that it is dead. Google it, I dare you.
