The dubbing used on the black ones are a 'black diamond dubbing', they grey and purple bodies are a 'dave whitlock SLF dubbing', the red worm type is a 'psuedo marabou' wound onto the hook, the tan is 'bronze ep fibers and some flash' i just cut the fibers up, they were actually offcuts from some baitfish ties which i used. These are a modified Hammerhead BMS fly which actually calls for Muz Wilson's dubbing found here...http://www.aussieangler.com.au/scat.asp?SCID=225&DID=64 I just have never really found the stuff but wouldn't mind grabbing some bags while over there. As the pattern calls for it. I usually 'fuzzle' the bodies before fishing so the fly looks a little bit more like this... It adds a 'halo' of translucence around the body as many small shrimps and baitfish often look semi-transparent. I just let the fish 'fuzzle' them up with their teeth these days but sometimes i would take some velro and really scuff them up. I like to add a top wing for some reason, just found they fish better and ride a little better in the water. Often the fish destroy the tails so i tie them relativly large to start with, tails are just rabbit fur from zonker strips or sometimes with the zonkers i buy i find this patch where the strips are all connected, seeing i can't use this so much on a streamer i use that fur to harvest for tails. firedad 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2011 I have had such a busy fire season I haven't had more than a couple hours to tie. I did try my hand at some homemade cork poppers. I finished two and few others are works in progress. I will post pics but got to take some pics first. I have been checking up on the site almost everyday though. I like seeing what some of you have been working on and gets me excited to get back to tying through the winter. Thanks for taking the time to take pics and post here. Well I have had some great advice here on taking pics but so far I haven't been able to take any pics worth posting. I did finish my poppers I was working on and today I worked on a couple of wooly buggers. Tried some different color schemes for Pyramid Lake. When I'm satisfied with the pics I'll post them. It also makes me want to work a bit harder on my photography skills... flytire 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2011 bluegill576 i use one of these clamp type lamps from home depot ~9 bucks with an n:vision 9watt full spectrum/daylight style bulb for the bottom light below the fly daylight brand for the top light above the fly but i may swap out the daylight brand lights for this one from home depot ~25 bucks please note: this is in no way the definitive method of lighting the subject fly. it is simply my way of achieving a decently lighted subject and works for me. most tyers have a better way and so be it. just do whats in your best interest. now back to november flies from the vise Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Firedad, it comes under a couple different names; "Gliss'n'Glow" by Spirit River, "Comes Alive" by Success Flies and "Fire Fly Skirt" by Hedron (I can't find anything current on-line for them but have a catalog). I use the "Camo" color for almost all of my flies as it is a dull silver with subtle blotches of gold with a kind of pinkish/purple sheen depending on how the light hits it. Years ago, I heard they were discontinuing the Camo and I bought a bunch of packs but they may have started making it again - I'm not sure which company made the Camo because a sales rep sold me a bunch of unpackaged hanks. Lykos33, I use two clamp on lamps like flytire. They work great. I may have to look in to that one from Home Depot to. lykos33 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2011 I use a couple of multi position swing arm lamps and a magnifying desk lamp...all either given to me or picked up at Valu Village (a used items store). I just started using Photoshop to crop and resize my photos to fit better in the forum post...hopefully I will learn to do more with Photoshop as I progress...here you can see the difference in the uncropped / resized photos...
