iFly 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2012 Nice Red. Do you ever fish for Jacks in Charleston Harbor with your kayak? Not in the kayak....the harbor is a dangerous place for a kayak. Way too many idiots on boats and that place can get rough in a heartbeat. Ive seen them several times in the harbor while running out to the offshore reefs in the boat, but ive never thought about targetting them. Several years ago we saw good numbers but recently they havent been around in large numbers. The rough part.....weve come in by the jetties in 6-8 ft waves. Not fun. Slow and wet ride. Im definately going to try for them this year with the fly rod since now i have a rod that can handle one. Also gonna try to go to the reefs in the next couple of weeks and see if we can hook up with some false albacore.
nightheron 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2012 This fish is the result of being stood up by a client this week. If you ever wondered what guides do when they get stood up, we go catch the fish you would have caught had you been there! Sorry Monday client, this could have been yours on an 8wt if you hadn't missed your alarm clock.
