That looks like a huge Red Ear!  2 pounds, unless the camera angle is making it look bigger.

Gotta love calm water in the morning!

No clue on weight, but yes, he was big and thick.    I let him go after failing to catch any more.

In spite of the 'nearing the end of summer rush', cleaning up from the near weekly severe thunderstorms, fallen trees, and loss of power, and sudden and unexpected loss of a family member, I was able to sneak away Sunday morning for a few hours of fishing at the local tail-water.

I love the old stone structures along the New England streams

A few netted and quickly released:

The browns were nowhere to be seen, oddly enough.

All caught on a fuzzy nymph

made from a fur collar given to me by a neighbor this summer as he was downsizing to move.  I believe it to be from a coyote, but not real sure,  black ostrich hurl for the shoulder

That may be finn coon. It's very popular for garments. Shorter than coyote and often in brown color. Nice fly.

The only two caught this morning worth getting their picture taken. And a beautiful sunrise.

That one's a pig.

Thanks Mark.  I wasn't familiar with that animal, it does look similar.

First time chasing wild trout. 500 miles round trip; ~8 hours on the road; ~7 hours walking up and down a colder-than-a-well-digger’s-ass creek; wet legs and feet wasn’t enough...got soaked when I misjudged the depth of one small pool. All for one little fish. Totally worth it. :D The stories of the difficultly of this creek are no joke.

Was able to entice a few Brookies Saturday morn on my local tailwater, this was the pretties of the few:

Sunday morn, I was lucky to get a few hours of wet wading in another local, warm water stream, probably the last of the year.  Caught a few small smallmouth, sunfish, and lots of fallfish.  This guy was far and away the largest.  All caught on a fly made by @Johnw1986 for the Crayfish &Co fly swap back in February, it's still kickin' and catchin' - LOL.

@Johnw1986 sadly, the 'claws' on the fly finally bit the dust yesterday, so I'll be tying up some more soon.

Very pretty brookie, what does the crawfish look like?
