Obi 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2012 Hi all! Just out of curiosity - what would you consider your few must-have-all-around-fly-patterns for trout-fishing in streams, that you would never wnat to miss in your fly box? I was thinking about streamers, nymphs and dry flies....... For me, it would be: 1.) Dry flies: - Red tag in various sizes, #14 - 22, with grizzly and red hackle - Deer Hair Sedge, #12 & #14 - BWO, #16 - #20 2.) Nymphs: - Czech Nymphs in various Color-Combinations, #10 - GH Phaseant Tail #12 & #14 3.) Streamers - Wooly Bugger (of course ) Not sure about wet flies, though.......... So please share your all-time favourites as well! Take care, Obi

FlyFishFlo 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2012 I use nymphs 90% of situations, my best patterns are: -A simple Scud pattern with a pink hotspot and copper Rib in #12 and #14 Hare's ear Dubbing with somePink spectra Dubbing for the Eggs/Hotspot, Bodystretch (I usually use brown) and Copper wire for the Ribbing -Goldhead Hare's Ear in #12 and #14: (Tied very simplistic) pheasant tail fibers for tail, hares ear dubbing for the abdomen, copper Rib, and some darker Peacock-ish Dubbing for the Thorax -Goldhead Pheasant Tail in #12 and #14: Tied almost the same way as the Hare's ear, but use pheasant tail fibers for the abdomen instead of Hare's Ear. These are always my first go-to patterns. I rarely fish Dryflies and Streamers and don't have any go-to patterns. However, i consider Wooly Buggers as good Streamer patterns and CDC&ELKs and Parachute Dries in different Colors and sizes as good Dries, but with Dries especially you have to match the hatch.
