Bruce Derington 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2012 Just got back from fishing a One Fly competition in Erie PA which was held on Sat the 27th, Funny thing was B4 the rain came the Elk creek was too low and clear, but once it began to rain the Elk was not fishable 2hrs later, did manage these though, Most fish were caught on a chartreuse egg with orange dot. Then because the PA fishing was out of the question I drove to Albion New York to fish a popular river (Lake Ontario Trib) and immediately it was FISH ON! I caught numerous Lake Run Browns and Steel head and even landed one Atlantic. As you can imagine I had to head home a little early. These are an example, The trip home sucked

FlyFishin'Jam 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2012 Nice! Looks like you did pretty well! Strange looking growth on one of those steelies. Steelhead have been mocking me lately, i seen them jump, i have seen them in the water, but yet to have many really smack a fly. Wonder if the rivers are back to a fishable state yet? C Teeter 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2012 Man I can't help being jealous, in the six years that I have been fortunate enough to fly fish I have landed my fair share of fish but not even one trout. I got to fish the Norfork tailwater at Mountian Home, Ar for about 45 mins last year on the fourth of July without the first hint of a bite, and three weeks ago I Fished the headwaters of the Current River at Montuak State park. Blue ribbon water threw everything that I had in my fly box......nothing. I got one strike sub surface on a nymph in the top of the pool and promptly deposited that offering in the overhanging tree ( that little limb had quite a collection not all mine thankfully) and of course that was the only one I had. So while searching the depths to no avail with every other nymph, scud, and bugger in the box and thinking about climbing that tree in my waders, the browns and bows started rising and taking something invisible on the surface. So after all my drys, fly floatant, tears and prayers I missed the two strikes that I got, I reluctantly tucked my frozen tail between my legs and headed for the car. The fishing was fantastic but the catching has left me very humble and absolutely jonesing to get back on some trout water

Winner landed 4 Piker, All Browns were taken on Chartreuse with orange dot egg fly (mcfly foam) Jam, yeah it had a wierd lobe on one of its fins, didn't seem to affect the fish. All fish were released to live on. Hers a pic of the fly but color isn't comming out , it is a true chartreuse
