Nor-viser 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2013 Has anyone here tried making deer hair dubbing brushes? I've tried without much success. I was wondering if there was some sort of trick to making them. I've seen them offered for sale in Europe so I know that it can be done. Any tips greatly appreciated. flytyer56 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2013 Never heard of them or thought about making them, but they sound interesting. Maybe any easier way to make a spun deer hair head?

Kirk Dietrich 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 I've seen a guy tie a muddler with deer hair in a dubbing loop. It came out nice and sparse, which is good for a muddler, not so good for a deer hair popper. Should work if the wire doesn't cut through the hairs. I tried twisting a brush with silicone legs and the brush wire cut through the silicone legs. Kirk
BuzFly 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 I have been doing it for a few years. At the end of my YouTube video you will see some examples of bucktail on a wire dubbing brush. Here are a few of the flies. Brad
