brianbailey1000 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 I have a Chukar skin that's had Borax on it for a month and there's still moisture. I have tried to remove all the fatty parts, but it appears there is still some that won't dry. Any tips on how to best remove these fatty parts without cutting into the feathers on the other side? riffleriversteelheadslayer 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 use a drill with a brass brush on it go slow so you dont burn through the skin then borax it again and make sure its in a dry place
troutguy 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 I agree with Riff, but by chance are you trying to dry it in a plastic bag? It will never dry well if you are doing that. Chukar aren't real fatty. It should be dry. Can you place it in a warmer place? A tablespoon also works well to scrape fat.
brianbailey1000 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2013 No, I have left it in a warm place, not in a plastic bag. I'll try and get that fat off with both of your suggestions though.
