Preserving a bird skin

Recommended Posts

I have a Chukar skin that's had Borax on it for a month and there's still moisture. I have tried to remove all the fatty parts, but it appears there is still some that won't dry. Any tips on how to best remove these fatty parts without cutting into the feathers on the other side?

I agree with Riff, but by chance are you trying to dry it in a plastic bag? It will never dry well if you are doing that. Chukar aren't real fatty. It should be dry. Can you place it in a warmer place? A tablespoon also works well to scrape fat.
