Rocco 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2013 Try the mouth of tributaries with colder oxygenated water in flow at O dark thirty early and late. Northern lakes also should be near the 'turn over' period when colder night time air temps force warmer low oxygen content surface waters deep and the cold water below mixes in. Schools of forage move shallower and the predators follow for a pre winter feeding binge. Rocco
ditz2 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2013 For a fast retrieve use the 2 handed strip. Hold the rod under your arm and strip as fast as you can with 2 hands. Subsurface and surface. On the top try a big white or yellow Gurgler. Tie a couple real noisy and a couple more quiet. Put some flash in them too. If you have not used any real flashy subsurface you might give it a try with something like a large 'Goldie'. I do agree that the weather may be a problem. It has been record hot here and pike do like cold, oxyegenated water. They are also ambush preditors like bass.
maxciriloy 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2013 Hooking a pike on the fly is one of angling’s great moments: from the moment that you feel the first surge of power down the fly line to the final cart-wheel jump, even a small pike will give you an adrenaline buzz that no other style of pike fishing can deliver.
