utyer 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2013 Picture isn't real good, but it looks like you got the legs splayed just right. Some spiders like orb weavers, sit with 2 legs back and 2 legs forward. Water spiders keep their legs evenly spread to help them "walk" on the water. The ones I am used to are bigger, up to 3" or 3.5" across the leg span, and a 1" to 1.25" body. Browns, olives and charcoal are pretty common in the US.
georgiaborn 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2013 Its actually a light brown color but kept washing out with camera phone. The spiders I am tring to copy are pretty small and on still water.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2013 Oh ... not water spiders then ... water striders !!! There are no spiders that actually live on the water. Any spider finding itself on the water immediately skitters across the surface to safety. The water striders are insects and 6 legged ... but I am pretty sure your little spider will get slammed none the less.
