Great Lakes Area Carp Patterns

Recommended Posts

Looking to hear what kinds of patterns have been most successful for Great Lakes area carp... I have done well on small hex nymphs and damsels. I have been a tying fool over the past few weeks tying carp patterns, just looking for some patterns I may have missed. Thanks!!

small crawfish patterns such as this one user posted image

this is tied by tony pagliei who fishes for carp in the grand river around lansing. he has a ton of patterns that he uses and a couple of videos out about fishing for golden bones too.

also, check the troutsman (i think that is their name). they are out of traverse city and guide alot out on the flats for carp.

FWIW........I believe it's the weekend of 1/29/05, The episode of Walkers Cay Chronicles is about carp fishing in Ohio(I'm not sure where in Ohio) with Brian Flesichig(sp?) of Mad River Outfitters in Columbus, Ohio.......I'm not positive about the date.......I am looking forward to the show......

Hi Eli,

I've had pretty good luck around the shores of Lake Ontario with the following patterns. The dragon fly nymph fooled my biggest this year, a nice 34lb female in late Spring. wink.gif

Also, having a few size 8 woolly buggers on hand never hurts!

Cheers,

Nick
