Chefben4 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 Been a month of so since I tied so it was nice to get back to it. Of course I started with a style of fly I have little experience tying. In any case, here they are!
essequamvideri 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 After seeing all the amazing hair work on here recently I decided to give the punk rocker a go. All the feathers are ringneck pheasant. -Mike Good evening Mike, I have a question for you about this fly. I've been asked to tie something like this and I'm having a difficult time getting the feathers to stay in place. How are you putting them on? Michael
Crackleback 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 After test fitting the feather I put a drop of gel super glue at it's base. Poke it in place and squeeze the hair around it a little. I'm sure having the hair packed super dense helps quite a bit too. It would never survive fishing but that fly isn't going anywhere near water. -Mike
lostman 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 Still tying up a bunch of these guys after my mistake with the "alternate" thread figured I could put one up on here

lostman 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 mike, the movement out of them is awesome being all rabbit fur, gets a nice tapered profile while being stripped in, but flares up on the pauses with a slow sink to it definitely gonna have to start tying more of them in different sizes and colours

Christopher K 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 Tried tying a few wets and framing them last night. There are 2 of Ray's, 2 of my own and a coachman. Does anyone on here have a source for proper wet fly hooks?
Piker20 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 Try looking at www.troutandsalmonhooks.com/shop he carries discontinued hooks as well as old school styles.
Christopher K 0 Report post Posted December 3, 2013 Thanks piker that's exactly what I was looking for! Not bad blind eye prices if the hooks are decent.
