vicrider 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2014 For me I'm easy to please. I have no desire to leave the country but would love to be able spend time again on the 1. Baptism River, both to the first barrier and the upstream portions above Finland MN. 2. Beaver River, from Lake Superior to barrier, and again well upstream. 3. Temperance River from Lake Superior to barrier. 4. Manistique River in MI from Mill Dam wall downstream to Lake Michigan. 5. Escanaba River from Lake Michigan up (this is boat fishing for me). From 1968-1988 those rivers (and others) have produced MANY steels to 15#, Coho to 15#, Kings to 35#, Lakers to 15#, Browns to 12#, Brookies to 3#, and almost all on flyrods I built from blanks (tho not always with a fly reel). Who wouldn't love to go back to those years again.

Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2014 With the size of those fish up there, I wouldn't take anything under a 5wt myself. Most guys up there throw some pretty big flies for them twenty plus inch brookies.
