Hi Kimo,

That's an amazing looking scud - I was tying some up recently but could not find a material for the legs that pleased me.. do you have a recipe for this pattern or a name I could look up?

Here you go. You also need to look for ostrich herl that has real long hairs which is getting harder to find.

Latex Scud

Hook: TMC3761 #20-14
Thread: Uni 17/0
Antenna: Coq de Leon - Medium
Eyes: 17/0 Burnt Mono
Underbody: V-Rib Large, Pearlescent Film, Olive AD Marker
Abdomen: Nymph Skin or 1/8" latex strip from Surgical Glove, Olive AD Marker
Coated with UV Knot Sense

Use a drop of CA Glue on the latex as you wrap which will make the latex transparent

Legs: Ostrich Herl ( Pott's Weave)

Thank you! I think this is definitely part of my problem... "You also need to look for ostrich herl that has real long hairs which is getting harder to find."

Someday I'll get both the left and right side of the stacked bug looking the same. At least I got the black on the top sort of balanced in the middle.

Bruce - thanks

yes I tie mostly on a renzetti master so there is no excuse. It seems when tying M. George style, small amounts of hair on a bare hook using flymaster + thread, the issue is not as extreme as in this bug. When tying Cohen style with gsp, a thread base and large amounts of hair I seem to be torquing the bottom hair beyond 3 and 9 on the dial. I'll need to be more conscious of that and adjust. I've done some mice where I got it. Need to get the fingers on the same frequency as the brain.

tight wraps!
