What thread does everyone use for midges

Recommended Posts

I have always used Danville 6/0 waxed for almost all my flies and midges. I didn't see any advantage to some of the micro-threads I tried earlier in my tying days.

Using 6/0 on the smallest of flies does take some caution and planning but can easily be done with a few practice rounds.

Here's a #28 94840 tied with 6/0...........

Pretty much use 8/0 Montana fly Co. thread, can tie down to 28 pretty easy with the 8/0. With midges it is more about thread control than size of thread.

I love TMC 16/0 , bennechi 12/0 . Was not impressed with semper fi nano but TMC is hard to find out of production. Also really Iike mfc 8/0.
