Ok guys im curious whats under the tree for you,

I'll start my aunt in law, surprised the heck out of me with three peices of art from Guy Harvey. And that's him signing them and him with her. Really wasn't expecting that.

My wife got me a subscription fly tying box that comes ec dry month with new materials!

And my girls got me a new watch!

About 10 years ago, after the hurricane in New Orleans, we agreed among family, NO MORE GIFTS. Any thing we wanted or needed, we were able to take care of. There are always a lot more people in more need than anyone in our family, so we suggested that donations be made for worthy causes instead, leaving it up to each to decide where to send a donation. This year the local food bank is able to feed a few more families thanks to "Santa."

Merry Christmas to all , and to all a good night.

Rich I guess I bribed my way on to the nice list.

Utyer. We too agree every year that gifts are only for kids, and every year no one listens!

I like to buy a handful of turkeys and give them to my two daughters teachers to give to families she knows need it in the class. We try to puck up a few bikes every year as well.

Family tradition is for all to meet here at our house on Christmas Eve, the house the kids ( so called since they are in their 40's now) grew up in and the only place the grand kids have known to go on Christmas Eve besides those who go to church before or after.. It's dwindled a bit in size as people move off but low and behold friends fill in. So we had the gift swap last night and the wife and I have our stocking hung for this morning. The gift to each other doesn't fit under the tree, it's a recumbent exercise bike that we can both use. Funny since I'm recovering from knee surgery Ive been on the thing every day since Tues when I put it together but she won't ride till after Christmas because it's a "Christmas Present" lol ! It's a girly thing from when she was a kid. Women are weird.

I noticed sticking out of my stocking is a gift certificate to Bears Den, gift wise possibly the highlight of my gifts ! Of course, we have the gift of family and that was evident last night with hugs, loving comments, shared pot luck supper. We gained restaurant certificates etc. Family has been after a CD of the piano songs I produced for our youngest daughters wedding, so that was in the baskets we handed out.

No gifts here, either.

Wife and I are able to buy what we need all year long. And we usually buy what we want, too. We're happy with just "us" ... no other family involved.

We are also not religious, so this holiday doesn't really have any meaning for us. We go to her Mom's for dinner, but other than that, we don't celebrate it.

A old guy i used to know said it best years ago! I asked how was Christmas? He said Christmas is for little Kids, a man that goes to work & makes his own money can have Christmas every single day!

nothing for fishing but a 25$ bass pro card. funny thing about that is my wife made plans for us to bring one of our dogs to see an old friend tomorrow afternoon. ethe owners of the dog had return it to us as breeders when the husband died suddenly. his daughter is in town for the holidays and wants to see Red. my wife lined it up to meet them at bass pro 50 miles away. there is something magical about this .

i am fishing a local private pond in the morning with friends from out of town and rain is on its way for the afternoon . rich mc

I was a good boy this year. I posted a review for the Greencaddis Ruby River 7' 8" 4wt that was under the tree. This will be a great dry fly rod.

About a week ago my fly fishing club had our annual Dirty Santa gift exchange. I was fortunate enough to bring home a new Fenwick Eagle 8' 6" 5wt. While I was outside playing with the Greencaddis I also grabbed a reel for the Fenwick. This moderate action rod fits my casting stroke to a "T". It may be replacing my St Croix Avid on trips. Sometimes life treats you right.

I also got a watch and a $25 Cabela's card that will put a small dent in the cost of 2 new reels and lines.

Since I have an hours drive to work my son got me a travel coffee mug that plugs into the power port (cigarette lighter, yes I'm that old) to keep it hot.
