utyer 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2016 I still have a few hackle capes from the early days before we had all these girly Whiting saddles. As everyone knows things were much bigger back in the day. All the fish I caught just keep getting bigger and bigger. The brown stonefly nymphs, that I first started tying were on a size 24/0 4XL hook, and sadly I used up all of my Mammoth hides long ago. Fortunately, both the flies and the boxes to carry them in have gotten smaller through ages. I took this fly box along on some of my first trips to Yellowstone Park, and that was before it was a park.
Cold 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2016 So...I didn't realize you were that old...I bet you were super pumped to find out you could still catch a Coelacanth after all these millennia when they found them again, huh?
flytyer62 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2016 Sorry this is kind of after the fact but it is the season to tie lots of flies. I got a sample of a "new" nymph skin material from Hareline it is called Kiley's nymph skin. it is a latex strip material that is excellent for either wrapped bodies or as nymph back or wing case. I have purchased all of the colors and have been using it for most of my nymph patterns. steve
