Losthwy 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2016 Who makes the longest streamer (straight eye) hooks and how long is it?
Jaydub 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2016 Partridge CS15 Carrie Stevens streamer hook is 10XL and up to 2/0 size. It's not a straight eye though.
Losthwy 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2016 I'm trying to find some about 2" long with a ring eye (straight eye) and a dark finish. Having no luck so far.
mikechell 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2016 2 inches long .... the only hooks I know like that are saltwater hooks. You could get what you want by making articulated hooks with the point on the rear portion.

Ed Gallop 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2016 I am curious as to what you are tying. The longest streamer hook is a Partridge CS15 Carrie Stevens but it is a down eye. Length depends on the size of the hook. You can straighten the eye but I don't know why you need a straight eye. I am curious.
rstout 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2016 Do they need to be straight eye? I have a box of Mustad 79580 size 1 that are 2 inches long but are not straight eye.
Philly 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2016 I took a look at what I have in my tying room and I do have a straight-eyed bronze streamer hook. My guess is they're a size 2 and they measure 1 3/4 inches. Unfortunately the box they came in is long gone. They're either Daiichi or Da-riki. I also have an Eagle Claw light wire cricket hook, the size 6 is the same length as the size 2 streamer hook. The Tiemco is in the same size range but the eye is slightly down turned. The size 2 pencil popper hook is close to 2 inches but it has a kinked shank. I've moved away from using the long shank hooks because I think they give a fish, particularly one that jumps like a smallmouth, too much leverage and moved to the articulated shanks or similar ones that are used with long jig molds. Add a split ring and a hook and can make poppers or crease flies that are 3 to 4 inches long.
Losthwy 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2016 Kelly Galloup mentions he believes the straight eye gives better action. So I decided to use the same he does.
Fish For Life 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2016 I do believe orivis has the hook for you. http://www.orvis.com/p/pike-and-muskie-hook/13ke There 6/0 hooks were at least 2" long, straight eye, and dark finish. Take a look.
tidewaterfly 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2016 Check the Mustad R75S-9674 Perhaps a size 1 or larger. I have some of the older 9674 in a couple sizes but not sure how long they are. I would have to check, but seems the size 1 might be about 2" long
