Crack Head Charlie - Varient of the crazy charlie

Recommended Posts

The crack head charlie is a variant of the crazy charlie that I tie with "the kracken enhanced" dubbing. The fly sinks slowly to the bottom due to the bead chain eyes and sits with the hook point upright. The Kracken dubbing moves nicely in the water due to the micro rubber legs.

Hook: Gamakatsu SL45 bonefish hook size 6

Thread: Danville 210 waxed in hot pink

Body: Saltwater sized pearl flashabou, and D-rib

Weight: Bead chain eyes

Wing: Kracken Enhanced dubbing in hot pink

Check out the video below, or view it on my website at the link below the imbedded video for more information and other videos.

Interesting pattern and well done video ! I agree that the head did build pretty fast with the Danville 210, which just tells me that if I were tying this fly I'd probably drop back a thread size.

Nice video. I see where the color would work nicely. The head is a bit big for my taste, I would use a 140 denier thread instead of the 210. That will take some of the bulk out of the head but I think most of the bulk of it comes from the way the wing is applied.

That may even have possibilities for crappie tied in a size 10 or 12.

Yes ....good technique comes with practice....More haste less speed.

probably should of called it the Bulldog Charlie smile.png

My poor attempt at humour sorry.

I'm thinking Chartreuse, yellow, olive etc. for fresh water ! Maybe even black for some late evening fishing at dusk/last light of day..
