Free Hooks!

Recommended Posts

Here's what I think I got based on the hooks listed on the Allen website.

4 - B200 (aprox size 2)

2 - J100BL (approx size 10 or 12)

1 - E601 (approx size 10 or 12)

2 - D101 (approx size 14)

3 - N304 or E601 (in a large size, this has been the hard one to identify)

Got mine yesterday. Thanks for the link Mcfly! First time I've seen barbless hooks.. the 2 jig style ones, but I'll give them a whirl. Free is free, no complaints here.

I'd curious to know if everyone got the same hooks and if anyone could help me lock down the identity of the three hooks on the right.

That is the N304 Shrimp, Caddis, Scud Hook. I have them and they are a pretty nice hook. The straight eye helps keep a nice wide gape when using a bead.

I want to know this also! Is it all the same hooks for everyone?

If the hook is a 6-8, I tie a bead head rubber legs stone. I like Montana Fly Co. Spekled Sexi Floss for the legs and abdomen and variegated chenille for the thorax.

In size 8-10 you could also tie a Czech nymph, scud or caddis larva for use as a point fly.

FYI: Allen Hooks sells barbed and barbless hooks.

They also link neat videos of flies on the

page below hook picture for most hooks.

So I contacted them today and their customer service is great! I never got my hooks, and they apologized, and sent another set in the mail with a rush shipment! Can't beat that! If these hooks are any good, I might be going to them for hooks from now on...

Allen was selling 25pack of hooks for $2 at the show. I grabbed 6 packs to try them out.

Dang. In Denver, they only had clothes, rods and reels. No fly tying stuff. I was looking for hooks and beads.
