MouseManiac 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2017 Tutorial video I shot last summer for our cicada hatch. I'm sure some of you are in the hatch regions this year. Enjoy and get you some topwater carp! I will say after some testing, this wasn't my most-used pattern, but it will do the job. I ended up going a little smaller and had a better hook-up rate and better lifespan of the fly. Also, here is my realistic version of a cicada. Tied this with some real wings sourced from an actual cicada just for fun. This is the body I would go with now, without any foam extending beyond the hook.

MouseManiac 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2017 Now if only I had a rod that could get that bug out there! Nice tie! I fished a 7 and 9 wt mostly with it last summer for carp. I know of several people that used 6 wt. My friend caught a 33" carp on his 6 wt.

MouseManiac 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2017 That is a nice sized fish!!! It was awesome. Took us a couple hundred yards downstream and probably took 20 minutes or so to land. And the wake it made as it was cruising towards us before the take was unbelievable.
