Akroyd, size #18 treble

At a size that small isn't using a treble or double kinda pointless?

Actually, fisherboy ... it has THREE points.

Which means the hookset pressure is divided by three since there's 3 points of contact instead of one. And using small trebles (lure fishing) it seems they're extremely difficult to unhook a lot of times.

Regardless, I'm afreaid to ever use a treble or double on my fly rod. I'm thumped the back of my head with a beadhead bugger or clouser minnow too many times.

I was joking, Fisherboy ... but ...

the purpose of a treble is not to provide three points at once. It's to improve the percentage of hook sets. A single hook misses if the point isn't against flesh during the hook set. With a treble, there's much better odds of ONE hook point being against flesh.

Actually, when I look at some pictures of trout and salmon, with the hooked jaws that don't seem to completely close, it's a wonder anyone gets a hook set.

Hey! When are we going to see the flies shaped like reindeer and Santa, and Christmas trees..LOL

I dig em.

Come on deer hair dudes. Lets see what ya got.

Yo! lets see some one whip out a full nativity scene from stacked deer hair.

How cool would that be?

Awesome emergers (nymph too). What hook are you using and what are the tails made of, if you don't mind say?

I really admire the patience you guys need to tie married wing flies.

I do not have it.

Marrying is the easy part, staying married is where the patience comes in! Can't tell you how often they split when

I'm trying to tie them in.

When marrying wings, it is imperative in using a matched pair if winging material, and you must keep the rights with the rights, and lefts with the lefts

It is imperative in keeping the rights]p
