Philly 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2018 Pencil Popper 2/0 Mosquito Hook That's a nice popper, fshng2. At one point, I was able to get soft foam pencil popper bodies. I haven't seen them in a while. I'll take some pictures and post them when I get my regular computer back from being worked on. The problem was finding hooks long enough for them and the fact they gave the fish, particularly smallmouth, too much leverage when fighting them. I switched over to articulated shanks and flutter spoon forms which look a lot like what you're using, along with a split ring, and in my case, treble hooks. The fresh water pencil popper is completely different than what is called a pencil popper in salt water. The lure version is fatter in the tail and is usually weighted to that it rides butt down. David Parker 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2018 Here is another pattern from a binder of oldies. From the interesting article I have read, this pattern variation was designed by a Newfoundland Gentleman to catch Atlantic Salmon in the Humber River of Newfoundland. We will be travelling there soon to visit relatives. The Buddy Streamer on Mustad 79580 Viking hook size
fshng2 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2018 Thanks Philly. I'm using my own shanks that I make from the one step looper and 2 pieces of 3/16 thick flat foam. Look for it soon in the SBS forum.
