Hair wing fly swap

Recommended Posts

Bbb (Max P), nice to have you aboard. Welcome to the forum and the only thing we ask as a new member you do read the rules for shipping and tagging and comply with them. You probably are doing this on the WA board already but just want you to be up to speed for the process we use here and makes the life of the Swapmeister a lot easier.

Again, welcome,

Nick

Thanks Nick,

I'll make sure I'm within compliance.

-Max

Thank you! It's an old pattern, but it's relatively easy to tie and it works!

Here is what I'm complete on right now. Not happy with them of course but is based on the pattern Bondatti's Killer. If I get some other flies for a swap done I may just redo these with slightly different materials and smoother floss. These are on a size 4 standard hook.

And I'm experimenting with a couple of different ideas I've had to use 1/2 a Mallard Flank. You each get stuck with one of the experiments to try if you wish or give to some kid on the stream. These are tied on size 8 low water hooks.

Looks good. I have always thought purple was underutilized. Purple Haze and then what? I've had great luck with purples in all kinds of lures over the years and have been doing more flies with it. The second fly with the Mallard wings in my set has Purple Hackle Beard.
