This is the prototype? http://www.flytyingforum.com/index.php?showtopic=53213 I do have a question about this pattern. I've always been curious how the wings, Mallard feathers, are attached to this fly? Michael Wings are glued in Thank you Bruce. I do appreciate the help. I have tried a couple of glues and have not had much success to this point. May I ask what you are using and how you are applying it? Have you had trouble with the wings not staying on. Last question, do you have much of an issue with the fly spinning while casting? Michael I don't throw them far,and fly wings get tore up quickly, pattern doesn't helicopter much, alittle. I use loctite super glue , ultra gel

Definately fall into this category. Over the years my fishing has slowed down, and tieing is something thats relaxing, my hobby
ben bell 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2018 I couldn,t agree more, Bruce..i almost rather ty than go fishing(isn,t that sad, lol) and if i get the itch to fish i just go to a farm pond and play with the bluegills and they almost always want to play..i got rod building to tinker with too..i got this silly idea to throw big bugs on short powerful rods taking most my time now. Orthopedically im a mess, in past, i was heavy into walking way back into streams,(to get away from pressure),but artificial body parts have over ridden that and i simply can't do it. Short trips or out of a boat for me
vicrider 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2018 Bruce, that's exactly where I'm at. Used to love to drop car at a walk in to a creek, fish it upstream for several hours until coming to another road, then hitchhike back to my car. Always got a quick ride, usually from first car through, I have one artificial knee and have about made the decision to do the other. If it works as well as first one then I'll be walking and wading again. Right now the pain in that knee is too great to do much of anything without a cane. I've been hiring guides in boats on tailwaters but kind of tired of that. Will be far more picky about guides in future since all they seem to want to do is hang a couple of zebras below a bobber and sit back and tell how many they used to catch in the "old days" on this river.
