I really DO hate people.

Recommended Posts

I hear ya. I grew up in a rural area but have been living and working a couple miles outside Philadelphia for the last 35 years. Spend lots of time in philly, Trenton and for the last few years Hoboken. Trust me Hoboken Takes supreme patients and striper fishing in the Trenton and philly area is phenomenal. I learned long ago that idiots can make your day miserable if you let them. I choose not to let them bother me. Kind of like not letting the terrorists win. As far as other anglers, rowing shells, dragon boat paddlers, yakers, jet skiers, water skiers, barges, freighters, tug boats, cigarette boats, sail boats, tubers, waders, etc... there's simply no getting away from them although with my jet boat I'm able to be amongst the tubers and yakers who are largely a nice group of folks.

I have a very high stress job. Getting out fishing is my happy place. I'm not running and gunning trying to catch a hundred fish with a zeal of a tournament pro. My mindset to keep me in my relaxation zone is understanding I don't believe I deserve use of the water any more then the next Joe and nobody owes it to me to understand my hobby just as I may not understand theirs. I would be the jerk if I got angry because a family in a set of tubes enjoying their day on the water don't know not to float between me and the current seam. The fish deal with this same traffic and they are little effected by it so why should I be bothered by it more then the fish.

I guess its the evolution of me.

For me idiots encountered while fishing are no problem. One can choose to engage or not.

My real problem is with idiots at work. Those I have no choice but to engage. And they never cease to amaze me.

Bryon, be assured you are not alone.

Some of you guys have to relax, Im not sure your behaviour is much better than the "people you hate" Life is much too short to let some idiot push all your buttons and spoil your day; not healthy either medically or mentally

Again, misconstruing "hate" with some other emotion or condition. No stress in my life. No lack of enjoyment during my days on the water.

Those jackasses on their air-boats and jet-skis don't spoil my days. They just incur my hatred.

Hatred allows me to hope they die a painful death and then forget about them.

As I've said before ... I may be one of the happiest people you know.

some idiots do learn.

after being fined by the police, my neighbor no longer lets his dog bark for 45 minutes at 2 am before letting it back in the house

(that neighbor was asked by 3 people (other neighbors) to please let dog in, then the police 2 times, then fined)

and the moron who casted over my fly line no longer interferes with me.

(seen 2 times since that day and now give me some space)

people will walk on you until given notice, if you think otherwise and do nothing about it, then maybe you are just as bad as them.

and the 20 something year old who tangled my line with his and 2 others opening morning (for the second time!!!)......

I just handed him my rod and with a smile said "you fix it"

the guys fishing next to me were lao when they heard me say that.

(I was not mad at the kid, he didn't know any better)

I just grabbed my second rod and started fishing.

and mike,

I am the guy on the job site who can tell a joke a day for 26 days.

next I want a dash cam to record the jerk in the new BMW that has to merge from the shoulder 200 feet after the merge lane ends.

I just will let him hit me instead of locking up my brakes!!!

I need a new car badly anyway.

that guy in the new BMW is late for work 3 times a week!, passes up 15 cars on the shoulder, then cuts off someone!

about once a year I see a trucker put one of those jerks into the guard rail.

Now thats it;s all died down, I'll weigh in. I am 100% with Mike, I seriously do hate people. Here's the thing though, when people hear that they think #1 hatred, saying you "hate people" is differnt than "hatred" IMO. I don't hate good people, people like Mike, Bryon, or other people with common sense. I hate stupid people which sadly is ABOUT 90% of society today.

Just to give an example why i hate people....

Just going to my Sisters house today (2 miles) I had 6 people turn left on VERY red lights, 3-5 people cut me off (didn't keep track for sure) 4-6 people fly up on my tail and swerve over because I was stopping (like they don't own brakes in their car) plus two people blow their horn at me because I did not run (turn left) on very red light.

I agree with Mike, I hate people. Does it make me a bad or hatfull person? nope. It just makes me a person with common sense that hates society and what it has become. Factor into that a very introvert personality like myself, well nuff said...

Try as we might, Steve, people just don't understand us.

No, you're right, Bimini. Florida drivers are terrible ... but then, most of them are from Michigan and other Northern States.

turning LEFT on red lights? And honking at normal, sensible people who don't? WOW--and I thought it was bad on my side of the state! If I had to deal with drivers like Steve describes, I might have to hate them, too.

If you see the link I posted, it turns out it is legal in most places to turn left on red only in certain situations.

Michigan in particular allows it in a number of them. Don’t know if this is what Steve witnessed, though.

Who knew...!?

In Indiana you can turn left on red. Only if it's from a one way onto a one way with traffic flowing from your right.

Ditto in Ontario.

Michigan you have a left hand turn light / lane at a majority of intersections. You may turn RIGHT on red, but it is never legal to turn LEFT on red here in Michigan unless it is at a divided hwy and traffic is clear. Normal intersections it is never legal to do so. The light for left hand turn is green (turn when traffic is clear only) then yellow then red. The problem is people think they are special and can pull out into the intersection when they know traffic will not be clear so by the time they actually get to turn the light has already been red for a few seconds and it's been green for cross traffic, yet you have to wait for the morons that are running the red to turn left when they shouldn't be.

It's a by product of this "instant gratification" society has become. people no longer have any patience and believe they should just go when they feel like it rather than when it is proper/legal to go.

I have made a few business trips to Michigan. The "Michigan" left has to be one of the strangest ideas that civil engineers have dreamt up.

At least the "Jug Handle" in New Jersey makes a little sense on heavily traveled roads.

Besides the “Michigan left turn”, it seems legal in Michigan to turn left on red into a one-way street.

It was hard enough for me to get used to turn right on red when I first moved to the US.

And I have no recollection of ever reading anything about any left on red when I got my license in Florida, where it apparently is legal also.
