Fly Tying
Mark Knapp

What are you working on?

Recommended Posts

I haven't been doing any fly tying lately been busy with my other hobbies, hoping to get 6 knives done this month, 3 of which need sheaths, which is a lot for me.

Mogup,

I like it. Sparse, nice profile, should work nicely.

The more I look at it the more I like it. Well done.

Well, I'm still working on better pictures, thread management, head size and not crowding the eye.

It's amazing to me to look at some of the flies I tied just a few weeks ago and see how bad they were. It's also amazing to me that a fly can look perfectly fine to the eye but when you take a picture of it you can see all the glaring errors.

Here are some of my latest from the Orvis Index of flies.

Next I work on some hair body flies.

So far I've tied a little over two hundred flies with my HMH TRV and I'm loving it.

I'm working on packing up my stuff.

Heading home tomorrow night. Two weeks in paradise, then here again in March.

Yep it's not easy making time for everything. Knife making is a bit difficult for me, since it's a hobby I don't want to make it stressful, but I still sell them so I also have the responsibility to my clients to get even out in a timely manner.

Working on some woven fly variations for panfish.

Camera battery is dead.

Rick

I'm going pan fishing in June, I'd like to see your flies when you get your batteries charged.

Hey Mark,

I work for a national vocations institute.

My particular department is Motorcycle/Marine Industry Training (MMIT) and I do Dealer and Government Training on Honda Outboards in various locations. During the Winter months, it's Dealer training and I've been out for 6 weeks straight. It's never that time frame during the Government season.
