March 2019 Flies From the Vise

Recommended Posts

Just got back from Richmce's seminar. He had us tie several streamer type flies using "eyelash yarn".

First we did three different sized leech or worm flies. (3", 4" and 5" or so)

Then we did a baitfish pattern with eyelash yarn tail and satin fiber for body accents. (about 5 or 6 inches)

Then we did the monster streamer. Mine ended up being about 8 inches long. I had to take two pictures and join them in MSPaint.

The one Rich then sent with me to give to Steve next week is a full 10" or more.

He also sent a couple streamers and materials for Steve.

(don't sweat the date ... I didn't set up the camera)

It was a lot of fun. Not a huge crowd, but good people that DID show up.

Halfast Gray Ghost. I don't have all the weird feathers to tie the real ones.

Real nice work.

I often sub materials as long as the fish approve.

That's how new & innovative flies are born.

Flytier,

Those are some really nice soft hackles. I really like the Partridge and Orange.
