Mark Knapp 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2020 Landon, are you sure you need this? You are doing pretty good with the system you have. This is essentially what I do.

Which photo do you like best? This photo with BIG Flies Photo Gadget Neither would be best for all flies. Since the BLACK abdomen and BLACK ribbing over the back of the fly is obscured by the BLACK background. Similarly, the dark soft hackle is obscured by the dark background. So for this dark fly, a white background allows more detail to be seen. If the fly were had a white abdomen and ribbing, a black background would be better. skeet3t 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2021 Outstanding photos. I made my own system about three years ago for photographing flies. Consists of two Harbor Freight clamp-on lights and curly Q bulbs. The lamps are clamped to an overhead cabinet so I can move them if needed for the best light. My wife made two diffusers with a light cloth. I use a neutral tan background. My first camera was a Canon SX530HS and now use a T7. Photo attached. niveker 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2021 Great flies and photos. I agree with Mr. Creek, as far as getting details, but for a 'dramatic' effect the black background is hard to beat.

skeet3t 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2021 Yamramil, are your photos right off the camera or do you do any editing with Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.? The colors are magnificent! This reminds me to add to my photo inventory.

When I shoot with the camera, I process it in Photoshop. Photo on smatphone and edit with smartphone))
