I really like the look of the J vise but I was put off by the fact the pedestal      Is the large boards. I like a vise that has a normal size base and had the option of a clamp mount.

Stay tuned for a work around using c-clamp from economy vise....

They sell it with a c clamp option on the site, but if I were to buy one I'd just use a cheap base from another company.

I believe the stem on the J-vice is 10 mm not 3/8" that is common on American vises. You would probably have to modify any American clamps or bases to fit.

Here are 3 ways to set a work station or re-set in just a few minutes.. Extendo bar with c-clamp, c-clamp, on DIY wooden base with original  fittings; bobbin cradled borrowed from HMH  tube fly vise...

3/8" is 9.52mm  so I'm guessing it wouldn't be a problem.

Yes, but the if the stem is 10 mm it won't fit in a 9.52 mm clamp.

I think Jay will make you one in 3/8 “ if you ask for it that way.

Excellent. I'm glad to hear that, but it may end up costing me a lot of money.

Jay's hardwood work station base is the most innovative I've seen and the best I've had the pleasure to use...

The stem can be secured on the left rail for lap tying or on the front leading edge for a height adjustable table top application...

BRILLIANT !
