SBPatt 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2020 Not crazy about the shade of olive on the tail and collar but this was more to establish the tying sequence; I’ll try something else next go-round. hook - WFC Model 3 #12 thread - Danville 6/0 olive tail - pheasant rump dyed olive rib - Uni Stretch yellow body - hare’s ear dyed olive underwing - CdC dark dun overwing/head - deer hair dyed dun collar - sharptail grouse dyed olive Start thread at head Clean, stack, measure (hook length) a clump of deer hair; trim to length, tie in on top of hook shank (don’t let it spin) Wrap thread to bend; strip some fibers off a pheasant rump feather, measure (shank length), tie in Tie in rib Dub thread/dub body up to deer hair butts Counterwrap rib; tie off/trim Measure (tips just past bend) a pair of CdC feathers; tie in/trim Fold deer hair back over body, keeping fibers on top of hook Tie down with a couple firm wraps to create head Tie in (insert favorite upland game bird feather) by tip Wrap collar sweeping fibers back; tie off/trim Add a very little bit of dubbing Wrap in front of collar, whip finish, SHHAN Regards, Scott Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
SBPatt 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2020 BRF Double Decker Green Drake II Much happier with the color for the tail/collar (doubtful that the fish will care at all); the chartreuse on dusky grouse makes for a nice shade of olive.
