niveker 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2020 Okay --- stop! (kidding) A couple of questions. Do you use only the para-cord sheath, or do yo leave in the innards? What's its buoyancy like? Are they weighted? They look really good, but I think I would have to make them stubbier for my area.
Guest Report post Posted May 27, 2020 Yes pull the inside cords out melt the end. Try to push them up to give girth but can’t get much. The real dragons bodies look lil fatter. No bouyancy; only weight is bead chain eyes. Can’t do them like the flex cord wish you could. Wanted to do it like the flex tie it on backwards and roll it back over itself. No way weave too tight. Gonna check HarborFreight maybe find some cheapo stuff that ain’t woven so tight and see if they’re other colors too. In order to get the bulk created by the flexcoil you gotta kind smear lil ca glue to get it to stay where you’ve got it. Otherwise it will fall back down. Add tails or unweave. But I digress, youse guys. 😛
Guest Report post Posted October 2, 2020 Found new color. Shortened bodies some for fewer misses...25’ paracord for $1 ain’t bad. DollarTree
utyer 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2020 Good idea, I am thinking that it would make good stonefly nymphs. Stuff some foam into the replace the core, and they may float, and work as stonefly adults too.
Guest Report post Posted October 5, 2020 Kinda hard to find buggy colors.
BHouk 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2020 Paracord Planet has hundreds of colors... https://www.paracordplanet.com/ Several would make buggy looking flies. Thanks for the idea!
Guest Report post Posted October 5, 2020 Wow! Thanks Bhook! Zillions of color combos. Gotta keep the bodies short and avoid the problem like the big mop flies....
