skeet3t 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2020 We put out bird feeders and hummingbird feeders. The bird feeders have a mix of cracked corn and sunflower seeds. An old feeder had whole kernel corn for the squirrels. The bird feeders are the anti-squirrel types. The critters would empty the old ones every day. Anyway, got some cute photos. mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2020 Wow! Those are Nat. Geo. worthy pictures, Bill !!! I LOVE that hummingbird shot! Skeet. Bunnies are cute, and few things are as cute as a bunny eating clover. The flower just wiggles as it gets closer to the mouth, until it disappears
xterrabill 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2020 Thanks Mike, Took me more tries then I care to say to get it.....like 2 years worth LOL ----------------------- Note... Never use red food color in your Feeders, it will harm them over time, stick with 4 parts water to 1 part sugar, heat (microwave) to dissolve sugar then let it cool down (fridge) before putting it in a clean feeder (clean and change food at least once a week), pipe cleaners work well on the little holes. I highly recommend Aspects HummZinger feeder and have had these amazing little critters stay with me all summer for 3 years now. ---------------------------------------- Facts... Their heart rate hits 300 BPM during the day and drops to 40 BPM at night, every night they survive is a miracle.

mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2020 We tried hummingbird feeders a few years ago. It starts to grow mold the minute it reaches room temperature here. We took them down shortly after trying. Mother-n-law put two feeders out. Found out the rats will chew through a plastic hummingbird feeder to get to the sugar in less than 30 minutes. xterrabill 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2020 Thanks ChugBug, My only problem is I like these critters...but I want their fur and feathers too and so far the only one that managed to up and croak on my property was a skunk that stunk to high heaven!! yeah I know, no song bird feathers or raptors ect. ------------------- This critter was on my parsley Sunday, its a Black Swallow Tail Butterfly Caterpillar, so I brought it in the house for a photo shoot and then released him back to the same plant. The last pic is a Grapevine Beetle that was truckin down my driveway, so I posed him for a few shots and let him go too.
