McFlyLures 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2020 11 minutes ago, niveker said: Same here, looks similar to something I know I've seen before, but I can't place it. Did a quick search and only Egan's Corn Fed Caddis or an egg laying Caddis by Matt Grobert look close. I think its Egan's fly that I remembered, but yours looks better. Thanks, I don't think its the corn fed though. This one is mostly snowshoe rabbit.....

That spiffy body is Hare’s Ice Dub in tan. Orange thread and brown hackle with the peacock back rounds it out.

cphubert 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2020 Thanks it is a variant based on Chuck Kraft's crittermite, using his tail. I like the suede head and synthetic hackle legs and I find them faster to tie. Unfortunately we lost Chuck this year he was a tier and guide from down Virginia way (and a really great guy). Chuck's signature fly was the kreelex streamer. I fish this variant (size 4) for smallies and trout, it does well, rides hook up and head down like a hellgrammite trying to get back in the rocks. And the hook is a 9672 (95??) fat fingers
