This is an interesting pattern I found on line.  Orange and light brown flies, wet or dry are usually really effective in my area from September to early November. The tail and legs one this one are just a little bit too long but you'll get the idea and the fish won't care.  This was my first and only tie on Saturday.  I meant to post photos of better versions and tie a few 14's, 16's, and 18's all of which I never got to.  A Nor'easter blew in and clearing #@%& snow used up what should have been my bench time.

Golden or Orange Nymph-

Hook: #12 Nymph 2XL weighted with .020 wire.

Thread: Black 6/0

Tail: Golden Phesant

Abodomen: Life Cycle Caddis Dubbing - Orange.

Rib: Danville's Mylar Tinsel, Gold size 16/18

Thorax: Black Ostrich Herl

Wing Case: Mottled Turkey Tail

Legs: Golden Pheasant

That is a sharp looking pattern, I am going to have to tie a few!

Thread - black

5/0 hook

yellow, orange, tan, and olive bucktail

yellow grizzly and dun saddle hackle

3 different copper flashabou

My passion before the Striper decline here in the northeast.  23 yr old Barracuda still holding them like a rock.

Borrowed parts from a Red Nemo Cruncher and Ken Sawada’s Hardy’s Favorite. A white wing and a darker brown head/collar (a color I’m still working on, dye-wise) would make it a Royal Coachman variation, kinda, I guess.

hook - WFC Model 6 #8
thread - Veevus 8/0 black
tail - pheasant tail
ribs - small wire silver over medium tinsel holo red (counterwrapped)
body - peacock herl
shoulder - pheasant rump dyed brown
head/collar - pronghorn dyed brown (1 Tbs Rit Golden Yellow, 1/4 Tsp Rit Cocoa Brown/1 cup water)

Regards,
Scott

DFoster,

This is by far my favorite nymph patter.  I have caught Brook Trout, Salmon, Yellow and White Perch, Crappy, Lake White Fish, Fall Fish, Large and Small Mouth Bass.  It has worked extremely  well for me.

Good luck fishing it.

Michael

@essequamvideri @niveker, @Sandan @JDM1 @Mark Knapp

Thank you all for your kind words.  I found this one a few month back somewhere on the internet.  I don't remember where but I took a screen shot of it to copy.  I certainly looks like it will catch fish.

Exceptional work Scott - I'm a fan of traditional English flies and I thought Hardy's favorite as soon as I saw the body.

I searched after seeing yours, the first link most closely resembles what you tied.  Article by the fly's creator. Joe Cornwall

Yes, that's it!  I often find interesting flies on my IPhone while waiting for appointments.  I usually snap a screen shot but I don't always get the link to the site.
