Is that a dubbing loop or split thread collar?

Thanks; I used a dubbing loop for the collar.

Scott

Muddled Lough Arrow Mayfly

Used Lawrence Finney’s lough mayfly as inspiration, then I drank a lot of coffee.  Subbed pheasant rump for partridge on 2nd shoulder; for this fly it’s probably extraneous.

hook - WFC Model 6 #8
thread - Veevus 8/0 black
tail - bleached pheasant tail dyed fluoro yellow (1 Tbs Rit Neon Yellow/1 cup water)
rib - small wire gold
body - dubbing cream
body hackle - badger
1st shoulder - chukar dyed olive (1 Tbs Rit Golden Yellow, 1/2 Tsp Rit Dark Green/4 cups water)
2nd shoulder - pheasant rump dyed olive
head - deer hair dyed olive

Regards,
Scott

Christian.s a question I have, not to be mean or ornery.  Why the wing case on the bottom of the fly?

I think it might work better if it was on the eye side of the  jig.

Please give me the reasonbing.

Grayback-1080.jpg

Grayback

Hook - Mustad R50-94840 or Mustad 7957B, size 8-14

Thread - Black

Tail - Deer hair

Body - Orange or yellow chenille with deer hair pulled over the back and tied in at front

Hackle - Grizzly

Popular Fly Patterns - Terry Hellekson

A yellow body is preferred during hopper season and the orange body during stone fly hatches

Yup! Nothing more than a lazy mans humpy fly 👍

Well it’s more of an easier way to tie, also I don’t fine that it effects the way it will fish. Also I fish them bouncing off the bottom and the fly will roll and bounce  so the wing case will show as it’s rolling on the bottom.

I know a ton of people tie jig flies upside down but I don’t find it make a difference to the fish lol.

and no big deal I’m happy to answer questions.
