IM6 Carbon Blank questions...

Recommended Posts

I’m thinking I want to build a 8’-8’6” 7wt

to fill a hole in my arsenal.

I like the Fenwick HMG Winstons old full flex Orvis and Sage.

Who sells blanks reminiscent of these old IM6 graphites?

Since there's no actual industry standard for the IM ratings, I wouldn't base action on IM. But to your questions as to the more full to moderate flex of the old days. Take a look at Pac Bay's Tradition II series. They are on the softer side for action and have the feel of the older rods of the 80's/90's and may be what you are looking for far as feel. The other one would be Batson's Rainshadow series. They are a tad faster than the Pac Bay TII but still more moderate than most blanks on the market. The only problem you may find is that these days most 7wt's are going to be 9' length. Not many that are 8-8'6" in 7-8wt anymore it seems.

Yes that’s what I’m looking for that moderate Slow graphite action

Screw it I found this on the bay I couldn’t stop myself

”Sage Graphite III 8'9" 7wt 2pc 10th Anniversary Fly Rod  #74 out of 300 “

never been fished with a Holland leather case.

I think the case alone runs about  $150 don’t they

I think I’m gonna need a couch to sleep on for a while boys
