Philly 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2021 I've been trying to finish up my warm water boxes. First up, some modern Calcasieu Pig Boats. I still need four more to fill up the box. The box is one of the ones I've been making out of clear photo storage boxes and 6 mm craft foam. A couple of crayfish patterns tied in the Calcasieu style They came out heavier than I like my flies, so I decided to see what one would look like without the spinner bait skirt and small dumbbell eye for weight. I like it better. At least it won't knock me out if it hits me in the back of the head.

Philly 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2021 Just about. Finished up my mop fly streamers. I have a few zonkers to tie up. Might do some small bait fish patterns, in the one to one and a half inch range. Didn't have to tie up any pink soft hackles, I found a couple. I'll take some pictures when I finish up and post them. Now, I've to got work out my brilliant idea of reducing the number of boxes I carry. I ended up with 15 or 16 small boxes, rather than the two really large boxes I normally tote around when I go on a fishing trip. Not all of them will go with me in the boat. The Mad Duck 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2021 You might want to try making some small/medium size poppers with Mop fingers as tails. I made some last year and they worked very well. Once the mop finger soaks up water, the popper sits in vertical position and the fish seem to really like that action.

Philly 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2021 Finally, finished up my warm water boxes. First, crayfish patterns The whole box and the first two I tied up back in April Zonkers/Rabbit strip streamers(they have heads which may remove them from the Zonker class.) And what's a warm water box without some mop flies. Actually streamers, they run from 3 inches to 7 inches in length. The two white streamers to the far left are old ones I added to the box, just in case. They will push some water, but I've treated the mop pieces with floatant. What I call the Boobie Bugger does that. It will sit vertically when it's not moving. I know pike and smallies like it. Philly 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2021 What are Shannon streamers? If you mean the two white ones on the left side of the box, They're variations of Bob Popovics "Semper Fly" Tail is bucktail, saddle hackle and flash. Body is alternating wraps of Spey Hackle and Estaz Grande.
