Gorgeous. Is there a thread bump behind the hackle?

If you notice there is no thread in front of the peacock Herl. The Herl is the first thing on the hook and then the Hackle is tied in ,wound ,and tied off. The body which is silk is wound back midpoint of the barb and then wound forward and whip finished just behind the wing forming a sort of thorax. Thanks for the compliment.

I know how they look in water and the motion is fishy. I’ve been tying more and more variations of these. I found yours to be inspiring. Thanks for sharing the trick with the hackle and peacock. Before I read this I tried tying one the conventional way .....thread first, then hackle, then peacock and it’s too much on a hook. What size hook do you recommend?
