Some pheasant tail nymphs I tied this morning before heading out to the creek.

They look just about perfect.   Did they do the trick?

The wing’s a bit stubby on this one so I’ll call it an emerger and look like I planned it that way.

Philly you fish the same lakes and lake styles that I do. Are there Crayfish in these rocky bottom lakes. I like these and had thought of tying some up but I don't know if the fish will recognize them as food. I suspect they will even if they aren't aware of Crayfish. Are you up there now or is that next week? I leave next Friday.

Nice

There are crayfish in those lakes.  I've seen them a couple of times.  This will be the first time I'm fishing them, so I'll let you know how they work.  They'll be a better fly for the lake I go to in Ontario, if we can get across the border by the end of August.   Next week.   Have a good trip.

It is very sparse and simple straightforward design. Uncrowded at the eye and I like that indicator Color. If you don't mind saying, what size hook?

Thanks. Its a #14 Grip nymph/Egg fly hook so it's closer to a #12 as the Grip sizes are a bit different.  I usually just tie these on #12-#14 wet fly hooks like Fullingmill comp heavy or kamasan b175. 👍

Goose Biot body?

If this inquiry is for me Baron the answer is no. I used a stripped Lt ginger rooster quill.  I’’m glad I have a few old Metz Rooster capes around as I use them for quills and tailing.

Hey Flytire, that is the least complex fly I think I've seen you tie. Beautiful in a different way and from what I read it should be in my Wyo/Montana flybox for the end of next month's trip to the area. Thanks for sharing.

sometimes one has to revert to their beginner days of fly tying and tie the simple and effective patterns
