Nice conversion.  I like that chukar.  I picked a skin up a few months ago, but have not really put it to use.

Nice.  Can I ask why the dumbbell eyes on the inside instead of on top of the hook?

Pretty basic; here’s a nice video if you need a little help.

hook - WFC Model 6 #8
thread - Danville 6/0 orange
rib - small wire gold
body - Swiss Straw cream
body hackle - dark ginger
1st shoulder - partridge
2nd shoulder - golden pheasant tippet

It’s been a few years, but this place used to have a good number of craneflies. It’d be fun to see how the trout react to something like this.

In this case it's simply because the pattern I followed off pintrest had them set on the bottom of the shank.   This year streamers were surprisingly effective against rainbows for me so I plan on tying some for trout this winter.  These were tied for salmon- the land locks have come up into the Still Water River to spawn and the gnarly looking stuff seems to provoke them.

Wow!  That's the first time I've seem golden pheasant used as a hackle- that can't be easy to do?

Nice.  I have not been out to the Stillwater for a few years.

I fish it all year.  Brook trout have been rare this year.  Besides the stocked Bows and browns there are some small wild trout and lots of 6" salmon par year round.  Last year I hooked 2 large land locks but I'm still waiting to get a photo of one in my net.  Maybe this will be the week?
