Is that a groundhog?🤣 OK, nice bear. got a video about bears in Alaska. Favorite is McNeil River where scores of bears congregate during the salmon run.

That's the biggest brown bear I ever guided for. The hunter is Bob Coleman from Utah, one of the nicest guys I ever met. The McNeil river is quite a thing, it's not like that in real life. I mean, the McNeil is, but the rest of Alaska isn't.

Good Lord that's a monster. Is that The Bald Headed Bear from "The Great Outdoors" movie? 😅

I'll have to watch the movie and get back to you. This one was from Braided Creek on the AK peninsula.

What caliber rifle are you guys using up there for bear like that?

I carry a .458 and a .375. .338s are also popular. Most guides up here consider a .300 Win mag. a minimum.

The bear was bald on the other end, if I recall.

Actually started out just his head, hence the name it had in the film, but then at the end of the film John Candy used the shotgun lamp and blasted the fur off its ass so it was then bald at both ends lol
