  1. I don't use glue. I tie cock quill wet. :)

    Kevin

Very nasty , indeed. :help: :P

Yes, akita hooks are much cheaper than knapki and a little cheaper than tmc.

I dont buy them because they are cheper. :) They are very good hooks and I like them.

Yes, Taimen. The world is small.

  2. Thank you :)

    Kevin,

Very good Akita barbless hooks are:

706 BL for nymph, pupa, emerger, and extented body dry flies

503 BL 509 BL dry fly

    709 BL weighted big nymph

I make alot flies on Akita hooks, because internet shop I use sells Akita, Partridge and Knapek.

In the other store TMC , but i dont buy there too often.

I dont use Knapek hooks but my colleagues, great flyfishers, say they are very good.

Professionals use these hooks, and they know whats good and whats better. ;)

I dont fish at fishing contests , and Knapek are good, but ugly IMO. :( :)

As fore other BL hooks TMC 2499 SP BL are also recommended, as nimph and scud hooks.

  3. Where did you get it? Don't tell me: the same slaughter house the gut came from and its still in Poland! :D

    :hyst:

    Ray

It's a tape from an old type transformer.

It's hard to tie because this material is stiff.

I will send you a PM tomorrow. I need some help with my english from my son. :wallbash:

  4. Ray great flies. Now we can see everything. Especialy the "without" fly gains much when wet.
I think that for a nymph of this size, one number bigger hook would be better.
Hook with part of the bend used by body is less effective.

You could pull out some hair outside. Not much.
Fly will be more "buggy" , the material will be have better in water, and the fish holds softer fly a little longer. This give more time to hook it and will often decide if you catch it. I prefer "hard" fly, that works, over "soft" that the fish dont like ;) , but "soft" fly usually works better.
