Material clip/HMH spartan vise

Woohoo, I just purchased an HMH Spartan vise that came with a materil clip. Maybe I'm a little dense but ....How do you use it when tying flies? I have been tying on a Cabela's vise that came with the cheap travel kit. Guess I'm just not used to the luxuries!

Any help or even other info on the vise would be appreciated!

One of the thing s I like the material clip for is holding ribbing material out of the way when wrapping dubbing or body floss and such. You can use it to hold clumps of hair or hackle like used in tails prior to or during the time you tie them in. Just a few uses...
