Mikeq 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Marabou Muddler!! I tryed tying some of these and when i spun the deer hair it went back a little to far, will it still work? I have a light brown deer hair ( only the tip is 'natural' ) and black marabou. I used marabou for the wing and underwing and peacock herl for the extra ummf. Inconnu 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 I'm not sure what you mean by a little too far back, but when I was learning to tie muddlers, the ugly ones were just as effective as the "better" ones I tied later on. I usually do a collar made of the tips of the first bundle of hair, trim the bottom and continue on with the rest of the head. Good fishin'
Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 I had an old muddler that you couldnt see the body, tail or wing, because of the collar worked great.
mhackney 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2006 A muddler is one of those flies that you can really mess up and it will still catch fish - as long as it holds together! cheers, Michael
